Motor runs when losing signal from controller

Hey guys. I'm fairly new here and have a question. I have a Veles 29 and the motor has decided to run all by itself when I lose communication with the transmitter. It seems to happen when I get just out of range, then it wants to run in reverse until I pick up signal again. Also, I've been noticing an arc when I plug the second battery in before I turn on the ESC. Neither one of these issues seem normal and I don't remember this happening prior. Any ideas from some experienced RC guys?

Sounds like you need to set the failsafe on the receiver. When signal is lost the settings on all channels return to their original setting.

All my boats arc when the batteries are plugged in. It is just the capacitors charging up on the ESC.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!
