New question about prop installation and setup

I have just recently joined the hobby and have been lurking a while but I need some help as I have not had any luck finding a clear answer on my own.

I have a TFL Outerlimits with P1 outdrive. When I try to install the prop and I tightened the nut it makes it impossible to turn the shaft/prop. Is there supposed to be some gap between the the white plastic bushing and the housing? I feel like I am missing something obvious.

Yes....There must be a gap between drivr dog and washer..looks as though prop nut is pushing prop and drive dog on the shaft..drive dog needs to be on a flat on the shaft..so it can't move when prop nut is tightened...Hope that helps a bit.

Sometimes the grub screw is seated on the flat spot of the prop shaft, but will still drift forward when the nut is torqued down. When this happens to me, I mark the grub screw's location and dimple the flat spot on the prop shaft with a small drill bit which gives the screw more to bite into.

Thank you both very much! I should have time here soon to get it fixed up.

Without this forum and others like it, learning new hobbies would be very difficult. I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers trying to study something at a library with 15-20 year old books and Popular Science/Mechanics microfiche.

Thanks again, it won’t be my last question on these forums I’m sure.
