33 inch sport hydro motor size ?

Guys, setting up a new ml boatworks 335 sport hydro and i have 2 x motors that i was thinking on using but maybe they could be abit too small. one is a t.p. 3650-2350 kv and the other is a castle neu 1415 - 2400 kv motor. wanting to run on 4s1p . do you think i do need to go up to a 40mm motor and lower kv,s ?

Exactly what hydro are you talking about? Some are easier to push than others. How do you expect to run the boat - oval racing, sport running, or zipzip running? What packs - capacity, C-rating?

Not knowing the above, I’d suggest a 40x82 size motor with a Kv between 1850-2200.

Jay, its an ML Boatworks 335. will be for oval racing and in Australia we are only allowed to run a single 4s pack which will be a 6000 mah / 4s.

        May I suggest a NEU 1515 - 2200kv, TP4050 -2100kv or a TP4050 -2310kv

the T.P. 4050-2100 sounds like the go as NEU is abit out of my price range and i think the 2300kv motor might drain out the single 4s pack pretty quick in oval race trim.

I think the motors in your first post are too small. The 4050 will probably work well.

I used to run a TP Power 4060 5D in my 33" Whiplash, and it was as quick as anything else (it was 2040kV back then - TP alter kV from time to time). No problems using 5800 1P packs with it. I used a de-tongued 447/3 prop.

Are you running at the Pine Rivers club? That's where I raced.

Hi Scott, yes i am with the Pine Rivers Club. I was hoping to use one of those motors but thought they might be abit small for this size hull so i have ordered the T.P. 4050 - 3y - 2100 . cheers Roland
