You adjust the timing in the esc, you can do this either through the TX or better to use a programming box. That motor is a D wind so needs low timing ie 0-5 degrees, on the T180 you can use either 0 degrees or 3.75 degrees.

Ok thanks. Is there really any signifigent performance gain upping the timing and how does that affect run time.

the higher the timing the more heat . keep it low.

On Delta wind motors, higher timing just adds heat, not power. With Wye wind motors the higher the amp draw the higher the timing should be. Too low timing with high amp draw can cause more heat than higher timing. For sport running, run moderate timing for a balance of heat and power.

Thanks. it sounds to me its best to leave timing at the factory setting then.

If your ESC has an Auto Timing feature, you may want to use that. It will detect what the motor is drawing and adjust timing to suite. This feature comes at the price of losing some of the hard hit when you mash the throttle. Worth trying to see if that fits your driving style.

If your T180 has factory (default setting) it will be set @ 15 degrees, you will need to lower the timing for a D wind motor.
