Sean, How did this come along since Feb?

I'm getting ready to remove the steerable Werner drive from my 58 Fountain because I cannot for the life of me get it to run correctly. the drive is large for the boat and Werner was kind enough to mill the housing to fit the back of the Fountain, but Ive tried over and over rebuilding, getting COG as far back as possible etc and I just cannot get it and am giving up on the project and rebuilding it.. HOWEVER, I saw this and if I can get a more correct scale drive on the boat, maybe, just maybe I can get this thing running.

Overall the main issue I'm having is it is running very wet. My COG is spot on with others who run the same hull and Ive rebuilt the boat 3 times to get weight as absolutely far back as possible and it still rides wet. The hull has been blue printed, there is no hook in it that would cause the nose to be forced down. What I think it is, is the prop is way too far behind the transom. Its an incredibly long drive for a 58" boat.... But, those MTC might just work if you figured it out.... Or if I need to get one and continue to figure it out. But, great idea. if you didn't get it, I'm on board to get his thing working.

Let me know. Hope your doing well.

Hey Scott, glad to hear from you. This is a gasser? I have been in alotta talks with Andy(AC Boats) and a lot of the gas boats are simply built to run wet and stick to the water. Racing is a bit more prolific in gas and it is (as you are fully aware) best if the boat stays in the water, AND gas doesn’t care much what it takes to push a wet boat. My Lazer 40” twin is much like this.
You may be on the right thought on shortening the distance between prop and transom. This should help the prop ‘lift’ the hull out of the water.

I should have the milling/large machine back setup soon here to continue on my single drive idea.
BUT.... this all started with my twin Lazer with steerable outdrives. It does tend to spin out when in a corner as the prop dogs into the water deeper when the boat leans over in the corner.
You can see it occur in this vid: https://youtu.be/pDkBbDtpdEM

Sooo, this is what I came up with over the weekend:

        Testing this next weekend.

Well in my opinion it worked fabulous. I can still spin it out but only on hard throttle.

BTW, this runs on 8s with TP 4030’s at 1180 KV. After this run batteries were close to perfect storage charge of 60%,

An AC Lazer twin? Or the steerable outdrive thang?

I’ll get it out onto the other lake today or tomorrow. It’s a lot more open and private. But I’m happy and can’t wait to get back to the single version.
