Building a zippkits Pro vee. Want to go electric. Have the 5” rail mount. Ordered a leopard 5692. Has a zippkits 1/4 stinger on it. What coupler and flex do I need ? And is it possible to run a 3/16 prop. Thanks

look at what size the motor shaft is and buy the suited coupler that will fit the motor shaft and the 1/4 inch shaft, if your motor has an 8mm shaft you need a couple that is 8mm at one end and 1/4 inch at the other end.
with a 1/4 inch shaft stub you can fit a 3/16 prop if the stub end is machined down to 3/16 inch. you can buy this shaft ready to go. -
What is the Kv of the OP’s motor? Voltage used? How far above the bottom of the vee is the center of the stinger driveshaft?
Use a 1/4” flex cable with a step down stub shaft, this allows the use of 3/16” props.

1090 kv. Flier 250 amp 8s esc. Shaft runs right on the bottom of vee. Just a slight kick up to get to the motor. Shaft will be supported by a billet t-bar at the kick up. Just wondering if you can run 3/16 from motor to prop with some kind of adapter for the stinger. Cut down on rotating weight. Just a thought.Comment

A Kv of 1090 is pretty high for 8S and such a large mono. Amp draw may be a bit high, what are your speed and run time expectations? Will you be running 1P or 2P?
Sure you can use a 3/16” cable, it should last a run or two (maybe) before snapping in two.... Use 1/4” cable, period. I will ask again, how far above the bottom of the vee is the centerline of the shaft? You may not want to run it as low as possible.
Is this your first large FE boat? First FE boat?

Yes first electric build. Always built gas. Been running rtr’s last summer. Black jack 29,Zelos 36twin, Zelos 48e and a ul19. Had to many noise complaints with the gas. Live in a very populated area. I appreciate your help. Looking for about 55 to 60 mph. See what run times I get. Making a plug right now to pour the casting resin in order to vacuum form my carbon fiber cowl. I shaved down the #2 bulkhead to make the cowl more streamlined. Can’t measure the exact centerline of the shaft. I will stay with the 1/4 flex all the way back. The center of shaft won’t be more than 3/8 off the inside of the vee tops. Thanks again for your helpComment

I use that same size and kv leopard on my 40" 8s eagle rigger. I only use a 160amp esc with a 55mm to 57mm prop so a 1/4 step down to 3/16 flex shaft from aeromarine works good. I get 75mph of speed before I hit 160 amps. My friend used the same motor in a 45" aeromarine vector on 8s 2p 10,400 mha to get the job done for him to heat race. He was reaching speed of almost 60 mph with a heavy boat. He used a flier 400amp esc using around 200amps with the same prop choice I use 55mm to 57mm. Hope I was to some assistance.Gold SpiloComment
