    Lipo winter storage questions

How should we shelf our lipos for winter? Charged, discharged, half charged?
How long can they sit without being fooled with?
Do we have to bring them in the house or can they stay in the cold shed?
Is there an optimum temp for storage?

Current FE wisdom seems to be:

    * Store partly charged, around 40% or 3.6-3.7 volts per cell.
    * Store in a cool place above freezing - a refrigerator is okay as long as the cells are protected from moisture. (I store mine at 72F).
    * Fully warm the cells up prior to charging in the Spring.

I do not know a time limit for storage.

One thing along with length of storage is I always wonder how long they set on a shelf before being sold from distributor. I wonder if the cells set for a year, then get built into packs and set for a year, and get sold and sent to your door. If thats the case we may have 2 year old packs and not know it. specially with NiMH packs.

That is why I used to like the original TP packs that all had build dates on them. You don't see that anymore because I am sure stores complained.
