All built and better than ever thanks to Phil! Boat ran a 97 out of the gate on cold batteries so looks real good for faster speeds next year. Tough to warm them batteries up in 20* weather LOL but the lake was not frozen so had to test her out before it freeze's!

thats a great speed 97 you will definetly hit the 100 plus mark with some more trimming / prop work etc and warm battery packs might help. use your car heater or a 12 volt fan heater / blower to warm them up if its too cold outside.

BTW if you still want to try that receiver/servo combo, try the item linked below. A crawler I know of had a similar HiTec/Spek issue and this fixed it. I speculated Spektrum uses a very low (probably 1.7v) TTL voltage, this probably boosts it to 3.3v or 5v that other radios/servos typically use.

My new 2.4 Futaba is working very well so I am happy with the FM to 2.4 switch.

Latest update from a late night testing. Boat went 108.3 mph ....and was still climbing according to the data log, and then backed it up with 106 mph. She pulled 347 amps and turned 44,500 rpm. Boat comes in loaded at 13 lbs. Am real happy that all this work paid off and it made my night....and a winter that will not end, I am in CT,LOL.

I was having blow overs at 93 mph and said screw it....put 1.5 oz on each side {inside}of the sponson tips and at the last minute before I taped the hatch down put one more ounce up front "for the hell of it". I hate adding weight but I also detest blow overs. Well she loved the extra weight.
My only problem is I am using my new 2.4 gig Futaba setup and at the furthest distance I will loose communication. I am not loosing control of the boat but the ESC is beeping telling me that I am and I assume it happens at the maximum distance from me . I sent her way out on these run's also. Antenna is at max height and I hold the radio up a little as soon as the boat passes me. Does not seem to be a major issue but I will poke around a little with the receiver.

Congratulations Gary on this great SAW speed result, that is really moving . about your radio range , have you done a walking range test ? the Futaba 2.4 gig with external rx antenna normally have very good range on water so maybe this issue could be something in the ESC and not the Radio Range atall. worth a range check.

You know I will do that. I will get someone to stay with the boat and walk until there is a problem. I have done this but not "real" far like at lake distance. Thanks

not like the AM / FM Radio days where you just had to collapse the TX antenna and walk about 100 yards. Spectrum have or had a short distance range check built into the Transmitter where you just press a button and hold while you do a quick walk range test of about 25 or so yards. Futaba is the go.
