    Power for a 21" mono?

    Hey guys.

Looking to get some speed out of this one, and I am thinking about using a 5407L on 2s w/ a graupner K40 and 60 amp speedo to start.

Any other prop suggestions/ speed guestimates?

I wanted to try not to say the name of the hull, I'm a bit ashamed to talk about it until it's finished and going fast.

      It is a Traxxas Blast.

I am doing a complete overhaul of this hull, and it will easily be able to take 40 once I'm done with it.

      Speed?

      Over 30 is good.

Here's a link to the thread I started about it:

        I would run a feigao 10s and at least a 100amp esc.

          But I already have a 7L!

An L can and 2s lipos won't be too much for this hull, I know that.

Just wondering what you guys think.

If you're going to run the 7L and a 60 amp ESC, I would stick with 1/8" props. Octura X435, X632...and once you have a good handle on your setup, the X435/3 could be used.

You may be able to get away with a 3/16" prop (X438), but your ESC will be the weak link.

With what you posted, I would try for an average amp draw of 40 amps, which is why I think the 1/8th props would be the way to go. They'll also have less tendency to torque roll your 21" boat.

Jon, do not be ashamed of your hull. I am not familiar with that hull and what speed it can obtain and also handle well. But I doubt that 40 mph is possible with that RTR hull
Up to 30 mph is more realistic. What hull mods are you intending to do?

Have any other members modified this hull and what were the results?

Steven and Dave what speed do you think your mods would result in?

I am going ot be stiffening the hull considerably by giving it a layer of 5 oz glass on the inside, and .75 oz glass on the outside.

I will sand the hull to a smoother shape and make sure the transom and bottom meet at a sharp edge.

As for the props, I completely forgot that I was planning on using a 1/8" shaft anyway b/c I want to use 1/4" x 1/8" bearings inside the carbon tube I am using for my strut.

The boat itself doesn't have any wierd shapes or funky curves to it, so it should be good.

The hull does have a lot of strakes, though...

Would you guys like a pic of the bottom?

I have not seen anyone else do anything to this hull. Here, on RCG, or RCU.
