    Current king of the Catamaran

Planning to either buy a ARTR or assemble a twin cat from a basic hull over the winter. My question is who currently producing the best hulls? only current production . I know that's a broad question but in terms of overall build quality customer service, available options, potential speed and handling. My use for it would be sport running, not trying to set any saw records but I want to hit at least mid 80's and still be able to maneuver the boat in turns or for some oval running. Can I have it all? My first thought was a Toysport Jolly because I have another Toysport boat and love it! and I have had great dealings with Joseph, his hulls are amazingly well built with great attention to detail but I think I'm leaning toward KBB right now, maybe 39″ Bulletproof HPR “Mystic-style” hull?? anyone know if Keith offers his hulls with the hardware installed as a option? not much info on the website. Any suggestions from personal experience would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

If you want some turning capability try an Aeromarine Avenger 36. Holds the Impba 2 lap "S" (8cell) record and has held the "Q" record. I set up both those record boats. We lowered the Q with an H&M but will use the Aeromarine to try to lower it again as it turns better. Not sure what straight line speed is attainable but high 70's should be in range.

Thanks Mic! Hows the build quality and would you rank it as one of top cat options out there? hows the room under the canopy? this time around I'm leaning toward lower kv motors and possibly 6s, 8s even 10s. A solid hull that will last a long time and have room for upgrades down the road. Turning capability would be great but I would put it second to speed because I know its not likely to have both, Thinking more in terms of stability and breaking 80 would be a definite goal for this build. I wouldn't want to go larger than 55" so anything under that. I'm going with either Lehner or Neu motors to be paired with MGM or hopefully Castle comes out with some new esc's hence my search for a premium built hull to protect whats under the hood.

      Thanks!

I am not sure if Andy is back building/assembling hulls yet but AC Boats has a few options. This is a R-42

There is plenty more in this one and it has been at 85mph. This is 70 trim. Another boat to think about may be a Conquest by Aeromarine or perhaps a SprintCat. Check the gas boat sites for hulls.

I should mention that there are some aerodynamic issues that seem to affect handling over 70-75mph. The hull can't help but be literally flying at this point. Ailerons perhaps? Or at least this is my experience with this hull.
          Just FYI, Shawn

The Aeromarine 36 has a hatch that is very wide and would easily rig for twins. Good quality hull but it is wide for a 36 inch and that helps it turn but makes it blow over easier at speed. Every hull has a terminal speed where it becomes an aircraft. Foils, wings or spoilers can raise that point but not by much. I don't thing that hull will play long above 80mph. Go longer to an AC or even a 42 inch Stryker but it may not be laid out as well for FE rigging.

Thanks guys, maybe I'm pushing it a bit, speed wise for a sport boat. I just know that I will want to press the limits, perhaps I should be looking at a hull designed for saw racing even though its not my initial intention. It would be a shame to put all that work in and be underwhelmed without the option to go faster due to hull restrictions. With guys breaking 140mph on saw runs I'm hoping I find a proven hull that will stick to the water at 80+

Well, MHZ will give you the speed your looking for and has great handling (for a SAW boat). It is superior in this respect to HPR for sure. You may just find it best to get two... one SAW and one that corners at a real good clip. Believe me, cranking corners at full tilt 70+ mph is a rush enough! But then so is pulling the trigger for a 115mph pass.

Thanks Shawn, I have read some bad things about other peoples dealings with MHZ mostly a few years back but there is a recent thread of someone who had to spend a lot of extra time sanding down a rough job on a new hull, maybe things have changed but if I'm dishing out good coin for a top hull the people who make it and their service matter. Any MHZ owners here want to share their experiences? how does MHZ compare to Keith Bradley? and who sells MHZ now, their website seems to be down.

                  Thanks!

I just saw one for sale with mounts and gear, it is a fun boat. I have one running 75 on 4s. They handle odd at slow speed but once going they are not bad. Same hull design as the MHz and HPR.
I'm sure TFL is still putting them out somewhere

Thanks I had seen that, it's a nice looking boat. I really like the exposed carbon look I have seen on others though. Are these still being produced new? Would be nice to see what they are worth new to get a idea for a used price.

I don't think it is used but rather unbuilt. RC BoatBitz has them listed but sold out. You would have to convert funds but it lists $399 Aud. Australia dollar is somewhat like our Canadian in value. So I think the one for sale here is a good base to start.

Thanks srislash! that's a nice clean looking build you did! Looks great and runs nice. I have decided to hold off and try and find that hull with the carbon look, most are out of stock but I'm in no rush so hopefully one turns up!

Thanks for the compliment. I'd still like to clean up the ESC cover but it is functioning.
                              Cf look eh? Mmm ,,,,
I don't know if I should mention this as I'm not decided yet but I have a CF Shocker hull here NIB with goodies.
A Shocker hull was my first brushless build and I sank it a couple years in. I do kinda have too much stuff.

My build should be my first build thread on here
