    Venom P1 KOS or Pursuit?

Im considering a monohull next and love the look of the 35" KOS, but think the better value is the TFL hulled Skull model Pursuit. I believe even the entry model Pursuit is probably a better boat, all things considered, but that Fountain inspired KOS looks really nice. Ive read a few things about the flimsiness of the Venom hull, which is naturally a concern as I would plan on 6s power. Thoughts please? Thanks to all.

Thanks Doby. With you confirming what I've read elsewhere, I gave the Pursuit the nod ARTR for 135.00, I figured I couldn't get hurt too much.

The Pursuit might slightly be a better boat, however, when reselling the Venom P1 will hold it's value and it's sought after. I had two P1 and a Pursuit and when it came to selling them, the Pursuit sold for around $200 w/ mods where the P1 sold for over $400. I still have one P1 and I love it, but it's modified quite a bit with SK180A, Leo 4074 200KV, carbon/kevlar inlay and runs fantastic. If you had a chance to get a P1 for a great price get it and hold on to it and you'll be able to run for awhile and when time to sell you'll find you'll get more for it than you paid for.. . .well, in my experience anyway and the ones I've seen sold on eBay were ridiculously very high. Still, the Pursuit is a good mono, fast and quite nimble on turns and at $135 a great deal. . .have fun.

Theres one left on ebay from a guy in Fl. I offered 135.00 and he took it. I think he has them listed for 149.00. Needs radio, still a great deal, at least I thought so. Skull model, which I like.

yup , great deal .i have a pursuit ,nice boat . first thing to do is rip that stock motor out and do a upgrade . and get a one piece flex shaft right away . greasing that 2 piece will get old fast . i done both these upgrades before mine even hit water .

and do a tub test first too ,these usually leak water up the flex shaft liner . best way to fix it is to silicone the gap between the stinger and the transom . i tried the( "o ring mod)but that didnt help so i left the rings in place and siliconed the gap shut .no more leaks after that .

good luck and post pictures when you get it .

I agree swap to a 1 piece flex shaft immediately....too much difficulty greasing the shaft, "especially" after the O ring mod!.....definitely do the "o" ring mod...I dont get a single drop of water in my pursuit

I would and am "using up" the stock motor that came with the Pursuit....
I am running on 6s only and the stock motor runs as fast as the hull wants to run. approx 45mph on 6s and she starts to walk, these hulls seem to have speed limitations you get to a point they start chine walking....watch all the videos on youtube of 6S runs yourself and make up your own mind
I have mine almost completely tamed down now but then you start to scrub off speed while trying to deal with the chine walk

point is ...use up the stock motor to setup & learn your boat, why use up a portion of the lifespan of a quality upgraded motor just for setup

I used to be always waiting for the river to lay down to run a Cat in calmer waters but this is a really a fun boat you can almost abuse it running it ...I run in mostly rough water as in the video above and have only flipped once...its become my favorite sport runner
