just thinking if you want to do this strut / rudder mod cheaper and easier how about going for a Strut [ not a Stinger ] this way you just bolt on the strut bracket [ 4 bolts supplied ] and with the rudder you buy a piece of aluminium and cut it to the same degrees as the boats transom then bolt it onto the rudder and the boat. the cost of both a complete strut with brackets and bolts is $9 and the cost of the rudder unit minus the aluminium you have to buy [ $5 ] would be approx $12. these come from Hobby King and shipping is very cheap from either there Australian warehouse or there Hong Kong warehouse. worth a thought.

Many thanks. The strut idea does have a lot of adjustment potential. I looked at struts however, due the slope of the transom the forward edge of the strut leg would finish up inside the boat. I will look into your suggestions.

The strut bracket should be long enough so the strut is away from the transom. i have never had this issue with any of my mono hulls where the strut end touches the transom. i will leave this up to you now.

Many thanks for your suggestions as they have convinced me to upgrade the stock driveline to a more efficient surface drive.
