ML Boatworks- International Hobbies-Amps Formula 357 SR1 54" Mono build, FE

So I laid up this Formula 357 SR1 replica a few months ago, and recently found out my future nephews from colorado were gonna be here for the summer, so I decided to give them something fun to do when they are here. I will supervise of course as they are 8 and 12 yrs old! Anyways, so here are some build pics. The hull is a carbon layup, all the graphics are painted and decals made by me. I am finalizing the rigging now. The outdrive is an MHZ, and all the hardware, and motor are from OSE. The esc is a Castle Airplane Ice 200a. Savox 1/4 scale servo. Gonna run it on 8s2p, with a total of 10800mah of Hyperion lipo power. Motor is a Leopard 5698, 910 kv. My biggest issue right now, is the prop. The MHZ uses a 1/4" hub, and finding a prop to run 50mph with 24,000 loaded rpm is tough. Anyways, here are some pics!

have a look at the COCR Props website, these props work very well . i have a 53 inch mono running a COCR / BJ1 prop engine loaded rpms are around the 22k mark and radared speeds of 70 mph is obtained. you could also try Dasboata as he will advise and make you a suitable prop.

Are those 1/4" hubs? Where do I even find that size tho?

You should have ABC in the US. But found 2 and 3-blades here:

That is very interesting. That should eliminate the need to go to a lower KV motor to run a larger prop. I did however, due to a time crunch, take an x470, and cut it down to around 57mm. I am still unsure this will slow the speeds down enough tho. I need the boat in the 45-55 mph range, and I am just hoping the weight, bullet size on the lower unit, and the gear drive itself will create enough drag to slow it down to this range without having to half throttle, as that will just kill the esc!

Does the drive not ad xx % rpm on the prop ?..With 57/1,4 pitch you will end up with anything between 58 and 75 mph depending on the drive..Maybe a cut down of a 2512 could do the trick..?

Yeah, thats the other problem, is the drive adds 18% I think, which is also gonna be an issue. I will have to get it in the water tonight and see what happens, I really just dont know as I have never run one of these z drives! Whats the diameter on that 2512..and is it a 1.2 pitch? If so, it may make all the differance with that shorter 1.2 pitch!

But if you can find something with a 1,0 pitch it would probably be perfect. if you go to low in dia. you could end up pushing water and not the boat.
