    Wnter Project

I am planning on building a 32" sport mono - deep V. Likely a Challenger. I am working on picking the motor and esc. I am trying to max rn time w/ decent speed ~30 mph and handle well in rough water. One setup is a Neu 1521/1.5D and a Hydra 240 ESC. Power will be 4S (4S2P) between 8000 to 10K Mah or 12 to 16 NiMH. While this would be a geat setup it may end up a bit pricey for a first build (well 2nd).

An alternate set up would be a Feigao XL (9-14) or a KB45, and a hyrda 120. I've read through all the great info posted (and re-read...) and it has been very helpful but at time mind numbing...Any suggestions would be very helpful. For hardware I was thinking of a center rudder or dual rudder system since this will be a sport runner.

Also, how does one decide where to locate the engine. By CG or length of drive cable...

I am currently running a SV27 and having a great time with it along with a couple of modified Zig Zags...

    Thanks!!

that first setup would get you closer to 50mph, if you want to run in the 30's i would look at the Aquacraft or proboat motor and esc setups to keep costs low, that should be ok in a 32 mono, saying that though i have had very limited expierence with mono's, so feel free for anyone to correct me.

    good luck!

for that size boat I would suggest either a 10xl or an 11xl, with water cooling. you want your boat's cg to be around 9.6" from the transom(back end of the boat)...since the motor is fairly heavy you'll want it close to the cg. I like to put it just forward of the cg and put the batteries aft of the cg. hth

Thanks for the replies. Any sugestions on and ESC brand? I know CC's a good product, anyone use an OEMRc from united Hobbies? Once I start the build I'll post some pictures.

28% of hull is a good starting point for a mono for cg
