    NEW 53" CRC5000 Build

Hi i'm new to the forum. I've been a follower for years, just never actually registered until just recently. I've gotten a lot of good knowledge from the posts on here over the years which is why i'm coming to you guys now!

I just ordered a new Central Marine RC 53" CRC5000 hull. I'm looking for suggestions on running hardware (motors, esc, props, battery voltage etc.). I'm not new to the FE world, but this is my first build on a hull of this size. The biggest hull i've built prior to this would be a 36". I want to do a Twin Prop setup on this one.

Any suggestions, recommendations, etc... are all welcomed. I DO NOT want it to be a strictly SAW setup. I would like to use this at the lake for some casual running, but also to have some pretty good speed.

    Thanks in advance!

Following this one. I'm curious as to what's suggested for your boat as I'm building a 56" cat in July. However, I did order a pair of SSS 5694 1200Kv motors for it so far.

Why did you go with the SSS 5694 for your motor choice?

Also wondering if anyone has suggestions on Strut & Rudder setups for a boat of this size.

From other builds I've seen. My plan is fun running on 8s, speed runs on 10s. SSS motors are better than Leopards, not quite as good as TP. Was gonna go TP, but I really wanted to try the big SSS motors first.

You can find a strut and rudder at www.marinefe.com that might work for you.

I was hoping more people would have some information on possible hardware and setups for a boat of this size.

According to Rick at Central Marine RC my hull should be shipping out this week!!!!! I'll post a few pictures once it arrives.

Still hoping people have suggestions on hardware for this build and will post them up.

Very good, can't wait to see it! I wouldn't sweat the suggestions that you're not getting. Just look at other cats in this size range and see what they're running, then make your own decision on parts.

I just finished one of these with a 29.5 gas engine. The only issue was the rudder linkage. With electric you should be able to do a Pull Pull system. Boat is very fast.

I did one of these a while back for a friend. Hear is the link to the build I had this boat running in the 80tie's.

Here is a shot of mine in its first race. You can see it was really rough. This was the Dist 3 high points race in April.
Here is a shot of the linkage I made from straight out the back of the hull and then angle 45 deg to the rudder. It works well but I dont like the look I will probably hook up a pull pull shortly. Resized_20170418_200634.jpeg

Do you have any thoughts on running counter rotating props? i read through your build thread and you aren't doing it. How does it drive & Handle? any huge downfall to Not doing counter rotating props?

Picture of the new hull next to my Genesis. I have motors and some hardware sitting on the work bench. Hoping to get started on the build in the next few days

It was a Sport oval boat I was building the good reason not to do counter rotating. SAW is a good reason to do Counter rotating Prop and shaft.
