Feigao Motor Spec Info

I am considering selling the NEU that is in my son's No Step Mono and replacing it with a more sport friendly Fiegao! That said I am seeking enlightenment. The neu is a 1515/1d .... I am looking at the 540 motors - could someone explain the differences and advantages of s, the ,l, and the xl? For this process lets use the 8 series Feigao motor! Thanks

The 1515 motor is about the same size can as the Fiegao XL series, the Neu is a little shorter. What size is the hull and what size cells are you running?

Ray's comments are very valid, why did you put a very potent motor into your son's boat without understanding the dynamics of motor and voltage power to hull length...confussed...supply the facts

That's easy .... not that it matters but that's the way we bought off of ebay! It's a 26 in Hydro & Marine No step Mono! There are all kinds of reasons why the motor was placed in this hull but that does not answer my question concerning the Feigao motors1

Ok so are you running series or parallel? That will make a big diff in the KV of the motor you will select.

I can run them either way I suppose but while we at this what is the optimum way for a sport setup!?

We may not sell the motor but just change it out for the time being and see if Doug grows into it!

The s, l, and XL motors are basically the size of the cans. The larger the can the more heat the motor can handle without turning into a puddle.

Depending on how many volts you want to run will tell you what motor may work the best. If you want to run a 2s2p setup then I would go with a L series motor. If you decide to run a 4s1p setup then a XL motor may be the best. With the 2p setup you will def have more run time but the amps might be a bit higher since you will need to run a higher KV motor.

Because of the confines of the interior of this hull I can only fit 2s1p's in either side so I would like to get him best bang for our buck!

He has a supervee that he handles extremely well, so I want him to move up in speed to experience something that will handle a little different!

Well for a sport setup I would shoot for about 25,000 RPM. If you plan to run two 2s packs in the hull in parallel for longer run time then take that 25,000 and divide it by 7.4. The sum is the KV of the motor that you will want to look for.
25000/7.4=3378kv so between a 7L and a 8L would do the trick in my opinion.
