    my first f/g boat

so this is my first f/g boat . couldn't resist , my local hobbytown is going out of business and i got this with deep savings .
what do i need to know about this boat?
i read about changing motor timing . any issues out the gate on 6s?
the hatch doesnt sit flat ,its raised up a bit on the sides ,that normal? and the one cooling tube could be longer ,it has quite a bend in it .
so far my only boating experience is with my recoil 26 ,i also have a brand new spartan so since i have 2 v hulls i went for this cat . i could have got the impulse v3 they had one of those too .

First off, go to the ProBoat forum and read about what others have to say. Lots of good info there, and you can get it on your time instead of waiting for others to respond.

I've posted a lot about my blackjack v3 setup. Several good threads. Cooling mods, prop selection, strut setup. No, my hatch sat perfectly flat. Yours might be warped. Maybe Horizon would get you a new one, assuming you bought it new.

          .
just read thru a 7 page thread, found out this boat with its short esc wires already has the lower timing . i do have a hobbywing program card so either way i should be good .

1st intermission in the hockey game, so I've got a few minutes...

drill out the water inlet in the bottom of the rudder and brass barb at the top
route cooling to ESC first, then to the bottom of the motor, then out the top.
Rotate the motor cooling jacket so the top water outlet is as close to 12:00 as you can manage while still fitting cooling tube under the hatch
Start with strut even with bottom of sponsons and level, I ended up with mine 3mm above the sponsons
run 3S packs as far back in the trays as they go
B&S x440/3 prop on 6S, 7.5* timing was a screamer and did 60 mph all day long
use a 2 piece SS collet from Kintec or whoever, $10, stock one is crap
I ran a Kintec upgraded flex and OSE upgraded strut
there's a breakaway rudder bracket from Kintec available if you think you might need that at your lake

Get your feet wet dialing it in as best you can on 4S first and then worry about 6S.

FWIW, I ran mine on 4s first with a x642 prop. It topped out at 40mph and the ride always had some bounce, regardless of setup. The hull ran smoother once I upped to to 6S which was likely a combination of weight and more air under the tunnel.

well horizon sent me out a new hatch in a hurry .props to horizon product support .
that said ,its not perfect ,sits better then the original but not perfect . and it has a paint flaw .

oh well , they tried ,i cant fault them . it might settle over time . they even sent me a roll of cooling line .

Honestly, I was reading your replay and was thinking how bad could the flaw be, but that's pretty nasty. The paint and shine on the V3 is so nice, shame to have it gacked right from the start. I would ring them again and get another replacement.
