COG, vs prop angle, vs trim tabs?

    COG, vs prop angle, vs trim tabs?

    After all these years you would think I had run out of dumb questions to ask, but noooo. With respect to primarily monos, there are 3 ways to bring the nose down, which is better, and why? Which would take more energy/amps? Another reason I ask this is cuz most all my boats are dialed in for calm/smooth waters, when things do get a little rough I just move my batteries forward. Setting aside the prop angle, might it be better to drop the trim tabs down instead? This is a two part question btw, one for set-up, and one for temporarily dealing with chop.

    I have found the tabs the easiest and in one case the ONLY way to get it settled. I tried for two years to get my 35" DeltaForce without sacrificing speed and amps but in the end it was like 1mm of tab that got it done. Btw it. Is awrsome now.

      FYI the gas guys I run with just have a weight in a pool noodle and toss it in the nose when running together. Take it out to run alone

        Adding weight to the front of a mono can sometimes cause it to bow steer. I like using the tabs and or a little negative on the strut to hold the nose down. For going saw speeds weight forward is best but not for oval boats sometimes.

          We all have our preferences. Mine (for oval heats) is to keep the fore/aft CG and tabs set to keep the hull fairly parallel to the water when it bounces out of the water when running over wakes & waves in a race and having it land squarely, just a tad nose up (not majorly on the rear or nose) PLUS set the strut angled up a bit so while underway it airs out some and boogies.
