I see the boat is 37" long and comes with a SSS 3660 1650Kv you run on 4s. My question is isn't that motor too small for that size boat I would have thought you need something more along the lines of a 4082 1800kv on 4s. I realize the boat is suppose to run around 30mph area, but won't a motor that size get too hot or does the lower KV and only 4s allow you to run a small motor like that? just curious what would be a better motor choice to stick with 4s and cool temps. Thanks

The 37" includes the 3" overhang at the rear of the hull, the length from the transom to the bow is 34". Its still a large hull for the 3660 motor, I have seen the Princess fitted with a motor out of a Genesis 3674 - 2070kv on 4s & the boat flew on this motor. -
My buddy has the Princess and he's getting alot of runtime and literally zero heat with a T-180 esc and Leopard 3674 1700Kv motor on 3S, it will run of course on more cells but he's an older guy that is more into scale, I would say it's close to 30mph on 3S with a CNC 48mm prop. Another few things to consider with this boat, the hardware is pretty useless, he replaced the strut with a Speedmaster drive and a larger rudder, longer arm off the transom so watercooling tube does not kink, also stock rudder is too short and turning is terrible. So other than basically getting rid of everything the ARTR boat came with it's a pretty fun boat and looks cool...a reliable runner for sure now...but you will end up replacing everything on it if you want a fun and reliable boat.Comment

That's what I was thinking. Probably going to go with some stuff I bought from another member. Raider 150amp ESC Leopard 4074 1650kv going to run on 4s. Going to open the stinger for a 4.75mm flex cable to run the 3/16 shaft octura props. Also will go with a 95mm rudder and mount the batteries on the sides of the hull at 30% cog. Have two boats running over 50mph and an Atlantic tug so this will be in the middle think I am going to shoot for a nice 35mph.Comment

That's funny, same buddy with the Princess has the Atlantic tug too! Anyways, sounds like you are on the right track just know you will have to modify/replace the motor mount to allow for the 4074, as far as I can remember I think it will only fit a 36mm diameter can. 4S for sure an easy 35mph with your setup. Getting rid of the crumby captive-drive system in favor of the 4.75 flex and 3/16 shaft is really a good idea, he did the same to his. In the end it is a really neat boat and worth the time to do what you are doing, keep us posted.Comment
