    ESC problem??

I am running a Chinese ESC (programming instructions say "Suppo") on 6S with a 12XL. I have only used it with this setup a handful of times, but it has been problem free. The other day, I tried a bigger prop and things got hotter than I would have liked after a few minutes of running. So today, I put the original X438 back on and took it out. Now the boat is not running right at all. It will be ok at part throttle, but at full throttle, it will "stutter" like- bzzzzzz bz bz bz bzzzzz bz" if that makes sense. To me, it seems like it would if you were over drawing the ESC or batteries, but I am not- this is a proven setup.

After the last run, I did notice that one pack was hotter than the other- one was ~132, the other was ~145, is it possible that one pack is cooked? Neither pack swelled and they *seem* ok and took a charge after the last run, so I don't think it is them, but anything is possible. Anyone have any advice? I don't want to buy a new ESC if it is a battery, and I don't wan to buy a new battery if it is the ESC..

I have had this happen, except it would cut out at full throttle. Check your packs for voltage first. If they are above you low voltage setting then it sound like you blew a high throttle FET.

You perhaps could somehow check your motor leads from esc for voltage. Run a search here and it was once explained how to do that. If that all checks out then perhaps you ran a little too much wattage to motor and damaged it. hope you can work it out, cheaply.

Edit, Also check your solder joints very good to make sure a motor connector did not come loose slightly.

The 2 packs (3S) had 12.16 and 12.13 volts after making a few passes today trying to figure out what was wrong, so voltage seems to hold. I'm going to order another ESC and give that a shot, if that's not it, I'm sure I can find another use for the ESC in something else.

OK, just went to get the second battery off the charger a little while ago and the one with 12.16 volts took 22 mins to top off, the one with 12.13v took 18 minutes. Is a 4 minute charge time difference normal after such a short run (under a minute)?
