Do not worry yourself about the plot Trigger. This thread has legs from many, how should I state this, "Tales of epic adventures and a slight touch of self congratulation"..Maybe somebody else has a better explanation!
Back to Earth ( finally coming out of my post surgery anesthesia hangover )
Your point is well taken - Here in L.A. the MC (or the Lucas Oil variant) is the most consistent winner. A Stock BJ29 will get left behind. We once had a Promarine 32" enter but it had some kind of glitch and dropped out in the first heat so no comparisons could be made. I must say however that it's very likely that a Promarine in the hands of Ray P. or Jim O. might be hard to beat but nothing yet.

Is one of them lying? I dont know who to believe. Stancomb has told more than one racer that I respect that Bill is not a sponsored driver. However, on Promarine's team driver Facebook page he is very clearly listed.
As is his team mate Ray Presnell. Sorry Ray, I couldn't resist.
I've stated repeatedly that I wouldn't run and wouldn't recommend any product that sponsors Wilmer. I have my reasons of which some of you are aware.
That said, I would never deliberately hurt a manufacturer or a vendor. Refusing to support a product is not the same as suggesting a boycott. I would not ever suggest a boycott. That's total crap. If I'm asked "what boat should I buy" its not one.
In regards to the boats themselves. They are a great product. The quality is great. The build is really close to dead on. They can be fast. Really fast. To find the sweet spot takes some work but nothing different than any other. Attention to detail, blue printing the bottoms. That kind of rot.
Our club has 3 wide bodies, an MTR, and an MTR twin. A wide body won our season limited cat championship against some stiff competition. It was driven by a vertual newbie too.
Were it not for PM carrying Bill I would likely be racing one too.

I have a similar thing with a certain NZ boat manufacturer. A good product but due to the person himself, no go ever for me. It has just caused me to have been shafted by our new club president and captain who are 'buddy buddy' with the guy. One month in their roles and five years of time and effort trashed with zero respect! I was pretty much forced to resign as sec. and not given even an opportunity to speak at all at last nights club meeting. I am now seriously considering whether to continue with organised model boating after this round of cr*p.
Sorry to vent, don't mean to hijack, just a tad P.O.
I get the op's original finding that the Promarine is somewhat more expensive than the MG for P-ltd and doesn't quite handle as well. I guess that answers in part some of the original questions about how it performs, so good stuff for the test and try.
Somewhat amusing thread too.

I feel your pain Peter. Drama is such a waste of resources. Those of us that respond to BS get labelled "drama queens". Pisses me off.
Lost in the drama are the boats. There's a ton of potential there. A boat who's quality is good to start with saves us a lot of time. Tweaks are easy if you don't have chop it up or reinforce the thing just to get some performance.
