    hobbyking pursuit motor

I bought a Hobbyking Pursuit boat and after using it on stock motor and 4s I decided to fit a different motor.
I fitted a B4563 which came from my joysway super x blaze which is 26 inches long and really fast on 4s and 37mm 3 blade propeller.
I tried my pursuit yesterday and thought it would go just as fast but I was a bit disappointed so might run on 6s next time in a few days.
Is it too much to expect that just because it is superfast in my super blaze that it would give the same performance in my pursuit, thanks

You wont see the same speed in a pursuit as you will the X Blaze with the same motor in both, the Pursuit is a much larger hull than the X Blaze. The X Blaze is only 600mm long x 180mm wide, the Pursuit is 820mm long x 240mm wide. The Pursuit is also a much heavier boat with a greater wetted area than the X Blaze.

Thanks Martin, I kinda suspected that as its much bigger and heavier, I might try a leopard 4082 2000kv with 180a esc and 645 prop

The Leopard 4082 motor is well suited to the Pursuit with 180a esc, what voltage were you looking to run the 2000kv motor at.

On 6s that's going to be a lot of revs over 44000rpm unloaded, unless your only going to be running a couple of SAW runs up & back. Also an x645 is to much prop at those revs, 2000kv is better suited to a max of 5s still giving 37000rpm unloaded. Do able as long as you keep runtimes down & keep an eye on temps using smaller props.

              Most use the 4082 - 1600kv on 6s giving over 35000rpm unloaded on an x445/m445 or x642.

Then you have to start from the hull to make it capable for high speed runs for start.
Just a motor won't give you top speed.
Use good quality electric components and you will see.
                      And forget hard case packs.

For a lot of speed ( depends what you call a lot of speed & what runtime your expecting ), for what it sounds like your expecting the Turnigy 3659 motor is to small for the Pursuit as its only a 36mm diam x 59mm long & either 1900kv or 1600kv depending on which motor your brother has.

Hard case lipos are not what they say and you can't draw the power you need for high amp setups.
High speed setups are Amp hungry.

Hard case packs keep the heat contained in the battery, they generally come with an extra set of plugs on the leads as well, both bad ideas for boats. Also if & when you get the battery wet the water or moisture stays in the battery case longer.
