    Outerlimits SV43 - Project help

Just bought a Outerlimits SV43 (67" carbon monohull) Does anyone know of a good setup for this boat? Planning to install twin electric motors. I am very grateful for good links, tips regarding a good setup, Matching Motors, ESC, Battery, +, and hardware. Yes, price matters, but so does speed Thanks...

You just bought a 5 1/2' carbon hull and don't have an idea where to go from there? Way above my pay grade and expertise level, that's for sure, but I had assumed someone laying out that kind of money for a blank canvas would have a road map in mind and a history of building boats. Good luck, and I genuinely can't wait to see that monster completed.

Please explain why you recommended a 300 amp ESC for a 12S setup. Way way overkill, high voltage setups do NOT need ESCs with higher amp ratings than a 4S setup does. An 8000 mAh 30C pack setup with will melt before the setup reaches anywhere near 300 amps continuous. Amateur thinking that can cost the OP more than he needs to spend, both upfront and in damaged equipment later.

No one can begin to answer the OP in a meaningful manner because he has not defined his goals. What type of running will he do? What are his speed expectations? What is his minimum run time? Without this information it's all about the posters' personal preferences. These may not match what the OP wants. He needs to forget recommendations from those who have not built large 10S to 12S boats and give us guidance. Or not and face the consequences.

Another thing to consider is that he cannot insure the boat through NAMBA or IMPBA because the hull is over 60" long. This means that if someone is hurt by his boat he will be sued and might lose everything he owns. He should be sure he gets coverage through his personal insurance policy.

As he seems to live in Norway, I doubt he really cares about IMPBA/NAMBA.

                  Hi guys!
First of all Im very greatful for tips and inputs to a setup for my boat!!
Yes, Im full aware that my project will cost, but Im planning to take the time it takes to finish my boat with local & external help. Im just asking for some recommendations from others who have build similar boat size.
This is only for hobby and RC plessure, not for competition.
And like to ad to the comment regarding if somebody should get hurt, you would not get sued in Norway if any incident schould occur!
So thanks again from a still positive amateur from Norway....

I would always go for an ESC that I know will never go to its limets...There is no reason to safe 100$ and take a higher risk that a 3-4000$ boat will go up in flames.

Yes, this is also my understanding regards to ESC feedback from some local builders
                      Thanks!

Hope someone can help you with the CG. If not i would be careful not to place the motors to far back.

The cg of the smaller one is around 30-35% and probaby is the same for the big one as the 5step hull lifts a lot.
                          Go 12s -1.7Kw pack.
                          Try to stay 25k rpms.
                          Start with 55mm props.

Only the controllers are "$$$$'' cause 12s needs 14s controller to stay safe.
Drive hardware depending on the budget,as you can go cheap.

I have the smaller one for twin-12s-0.5Kw pack.

                            44,4v x 4 = 177 w/h Or 4000 mah. Then 30C will not do.

But if 50 mph is your goal 4000 mah will probably give you 6-8 min running time. But a 67" boat will look ekstremly slow...
