    Battery Storage Bunker

    Battery Storage Bunker

    Here is where I got my inspiration for this project;

I changed things a little bit, instead of making compartments front to back across the bottom, I made them so the batteries could stand on end, therefore being able to store more in one box.

    My setup can hold
    12 - 4S 5000 packs
    4 - 6S 5000 packs
    2 - 2S 6500 packs

That is 18 packs in total.

You can make yours to suit any size or amount of packs you want.

I like this setup because if you have one pack go south on you the odds are your other packs will still be OK

If you just use an ammo box and one pack goes it will ignite the other packs around it.

Regular 1/2' drywall is fire rated (1200 degrees F) for 30min.
1/2" fire lath is rated at 1 hour.
5/8" fire lath is rated at 2 hours
I have never seen a LiPo burn for 30 min. So I went with the 1/2" drywall.

This tool box has NO seal around the top, But I will add some 3/4" holes on the ends of the lid just to be safe.

The only downfall so far is the total weight with batteries = 40 lb.
The glue mixture is a little messy to work with, but it is rock solid once dry.

nice idea . theres a guy over at rcgroups been selling a separator kit for ammo box for some time now . but the wood not as thick as what you got here and i would suspect had a fire broke out you still lose them all .

I really like it. If not for the pond then for the home. Simple, cheap effective.

You could post this on RC Groups Larry, it will get plenty of hits.
