    JAE motor height

I'm at the stage of actually attaching the motor to the hull and realized that attempting to mount the motor/water jacket at the location where the hole are, I had to force the motor down to make the holes line up.
I am considering filling in the original hole location and raising them up 1/16 to 3/32 in order to have enough clearance for the motor & water jacket.
    Any thoughts on this?

I am a bit confused. Which JAE, the .12 or .21? Which motor? Which jacket? Which motor mount? A pic would help. I had no problem installing a Castle 1415 and OSE mount in my JAE21.

While installing the UL-1 motor and cooling jacket I had the same issue. I just spaced the motor on the same plane tell it cleared. Ran the boat for the first time today, have to say very happy so far.

Oops, sorry. It's a .21 size and using the TP Power 3630 motor with OSE TP 3630 jacket.

The story behind this was that the two hull side pieces were not drilled for the motor mount. So I called Zipp Kits and they sent me a drilling jig to get the mounting holes correct. Unfortunately I never attempted to just drop the motor and mount into the tub before drilling the holes instead I drilled the holes where the jig indicated and then mounted the motor....without the water jacket....don't know what I was thinking but there you are, I'm probably not the only one who makes mistakes like this but it was a head slapper. So then I attempted to mount the whole business with the OSE water jacket and found I had to push down with enough pressure to line up the Holes in the boat with the motor mount. Not good. Don't want any stress on the bottom of the tub to possibly give way during a run so that's where it ended up.
I used the drilling jig and measured up from the bottom of the hull at the joint where the sides and the bottom meet and measured up 1/16". At this point I had already filled the previous holes with epoxy/filler mix which had been allowed to harden for 24 hours, redrilled and then after having to remove the motor from the mount as I had already glued in the top frame work for the cowl and removing one side of the motor mount, I slid it in and reattached everything and there was just enough clearance for the water jacket with out having to apply any undue stress to the bottom of the tub. The motor still lines up with the now glued in stuffing tube and is going to now remain inside the tub as the inside has already been coated with West Systems epoxy.
That's one more problem I had to overcome, mainly due to my lack of building experience for this type of construction.
This is my first wood boat build so I had to realize some kind of learning curve.
