    First time trying FE

Well, I finally finished up the little micro outrigger and went to the pond for a shake down run. Mt first attempt at FE turned into SLOW-elec. Ran good for about 20 feet and then stopped, released the trigger and hit it again for about 20 feet then died. Got it to the bank and found the lipo was nice and smelly and had burnt the wires into. I have attached pics for everyone to pick apart and maybe I can get this thing figured out. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    Specs:
    Dromica 25 amp esc
    Dromica 28mm 5300 kv motor
    E-flite 1300mAh @20c
    26mm plastic prop

You'll need a much better quality battery with a higher C rating. Use some quality connectors on the battery end.

Maybe 2000mah would be more sufficient.

This. Stick with it, you'll be hooked once you get her running good.

Dean's connectors would do fine. Male on esc and female on battery. There are other connectors just as good, depends on what your new battery comes with.
Please avoid E-flight batteries as they are somewhat over rated. That 20c rating is its Max C rating. I always like cells that have two ratings, continuous and peak.

That motor is a fairly high kv and demanded every amp plus some more from that pack. 30c -40c rating keeps you covered.

            Where in Florida are you?
There are some good Electric clubs in Florida that you can hook up with for help.

I don't recognise the boat, which is surprising as I am into minis and it looks like a mass produced laser cut kit, who makes it? How big is the boat? What does it weigh RTR? Have you got a side view?

You said it is a 28mm motor, but it looks more like a 20mm to me, is it 20 diameter by 28mm long? There are precious few good 20mm motors , nearly all run very hot and pulled high amps compared to an average short 28mm motor, packaging may be harder but there are a lot of decent 28mm motors out there so your chances of picking a good one are much better.

5300KV is pretty high for a 2s mini, that is more a full size 2s KV, I would guess that you are pulling about 30A if it is a well designed and set up light hull (could be considerably more if not), which is more current than your ESC and battery (motor too if it is 20mm diameter) is rated for (based on a Graupner carbon 26mm prop, and they are probably the most efficient props out there).

The battery looks like it has been burned by the wires rather than overworked and puffed, but the short run my have saved it. 16awg or bigger (smaller number) wire is suitable for minis, and 3.5mm gold connectors (like I think are on the motor).

There is a club in The Villages just south of Ocala.

It looks like this one.I've considered trying this one myself a few times. But other things took precedence. One day perhaps.

Paul, you are correct. Don't know how but I got the measurements wrong. It's a 20mm dia x 40 mm length. In the link below is the exact motor/ESC combo that I have. I plan on using a leopard 2845(5D) and a seaking 60 amp ESC. I'm also going to go with a 3s battery for power. The second link is the battery I plan on using.
