Ariane 2 and carbon fiber hulls in general

Anyone have one of the TFL Ariane's in cf?
How do you like it? Has anyone broken/cracked one?

I'm not after absolute top speed or racing, just "fast enough", good cornering, stability, and able to take a bit of chop.
    I'd probably run it on a Leopard 4074 2200kv 4s.

    Several questions:
Is CF tougher than GF in this application? (FE Boats)
Does it spider-crack like GF can?
Any drawbacks to CF hulls other than radio signal blockage and being harder to see at a distance?

Should I buy it direct from Monica/TFL (is she still around?) or Hobbyking artr?

Overall, I'm looking for a tougher, higher quality hull & hardware alternative to the Voracity.

    Hi Rob.
I have the ordinary fiberglass version. I've been racing it for 3 years now & there aren't even any spider cracks in the gel coat yet. But I can't comment on the carbon fiber hulls.
    I run mine on both 4s & 6s with a 1600kv motor in it.
It is a largish hull at 36" for 4s, so I think a 2000kv motor would be better in your case so you can run a slightly larger more efficient prop than with the 2200kv motor.
It is a bit sketchy in choppy race water at the 6s speeds because it is a fairly shallow V. But at 4s speeds she is a great performer.

You can order hull & hardware from TFL direct & specify which of their SSS motors you want. You can also specify a welded flex shaft. Contact Monica on her TFL facebook page.
You will have to check the cost difference between the hk option plus buying the additional shaft & motor you want, to what ever price TFL quotes you.

    Here's mine in the 6s mode running against 39 & 40 " boats. Mine's the white one.

See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

My buddy has one, great hull design. It can handle rougher water than say a TFL Pursuit, and be almost as agile. His boat is in carbon fiber and though he has faster boats, its probably his favorite boat.

He has done nothing to reinforce it, though in the 2 years I've seen the boat in action, I have only seen it roll-over twice. That's it. My HPR and Genesis will flip and roll over more than that on any given Sunday. The longer hull and mono design lessens the amount of hull crushing flips you tend to get, even at the 65 mph plus speeds it runs. Though the carbon weave on that boat is so thin, you can see sunlight through it.

He is running a SSS 4082 2000kv with a 180A V3 on 6S. I think the props he uses vary from 40mm - 42mm with varying pitches. X642 I think is his go to prop.

The CF will require a receiver with an external antenna. I think he uses a Tactic TR625 receiver and Tactic surface radio.
