One thing to remember Avanti was "racing" this setup. So run times were short and speeds were full out for the entire run or most of it. If you are running for sport or fun the 9xl will be a much better motor. Now thats my opinion. Also a 9xl will get you going pretty quick with a 9xl 4s and x640.

Well said Steve. I run a DF 29.5 with an 9XL 2 TP4500 2S1P 22.5C in series X440 for sport and an X640 for more spirited performance. If you run for a long time all bets are off

I would not say I was just racing and making short runs, our club has a loose set of rules we run for a while. The temps were all good in the hood with my set up.

To each their own and some will doubt it, but just to be safe test your temps after a short run to make sure they are good. Your motor is a different brand that may cause a change in number, but I doubt it.
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

John, you are a seasoned FE boater. The problem is some young guns will look at your setups and then up the ante and :flame42.
They will then be upset as their hard earned cash is now below the waves as they have no recovery method and will leave the sport. I think Fluid said it best , it is all not about speed.
Fliud, if I took you out of context, please advise me
John, I also love your very honest responses on this forum

Thanks Douggie, I always try to shoot straight and not bs people.

I have let locktite know to keep a watchful eye on his temps with any changes to the setup he makes.

I am just as cautious as the next guy when it comes to protecting high ticket items like the hydra240 and my flightpower evo25 lipos.

an extra tip that I have been following is to not use the internal bec on the hydras for anything over 3s, I ran a receiver pack w/my setup on 4s. I have seen many hydras smoke, but knock on wood, mine has served me well.
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

John, you are dead right, no BEC. No problems with the Hydra 240 up to what voltage and amp draw?
