Converting Nitro outboard to Electric outboard

Hello. Can anyone help me on some info I am looking for. I have a K&B 13cc nitro outboard motor on my 1/4 scale outboard tunnel and I want to convert my outboard to electric outboard motor. Can I convert an electric motor to bolt on my K&B lower unit, so that I can run my tunnel with an electric outboard motor? What size electric motor would I need for a 48 inch Tunnel Hull, what size speed controller and what size batteries ? You can email me at: [email protected] with any info please. Thanks.

I have never seen a tunnel that large in FE set-up, but I am pretty sure the lower can be converted. I built two aquacraft VS1's for FE, but that is a much smaller lower.

The easiest conversion would use a Hyperformance mount available here on OSE. Without a lot of machining just drilling 4 mounting holes in the K&B faceplate. I have run 1521 and 1524 motors with the K&B lowers .187 shaft and no problems. Going to a 1527 which you can get with a 5mm shaft should work fine. without machining an 8mm shaft adapter. Not sure if a 56X90+ motor would tear up the .187 shaft. Lower revs a big torque would use larger diameter props that might need a gas lower and 1/4 shaft. Select a battery system 8-10S and KV range and target no load rpms around 30,000. X450 to 455 is where I would start.
