    Tweaking Miss Geico 29 v3

    Hello!

Last weekend I picked up an MJ29 V3. So far it's stock, running two 3s 50c 5200 packs. ESC leads were folded and zip-tied, so 15* timing. I've adjusted to 7.5*. I also watched Chief's vids, and adjusted the strut a few times. Lots of porpoisong, and GPS came back at 42.5mph, Temps hovering around 160 on both the motor and ESC even with adjusted timing.
Any advice for more speed, lower temps, and less wah-wah are much appreciated.
New ESC and/or Motor, and/or batteries, and if so, recommendations? I believe a post suggested an M442 Sharpened/Balanced prop?
    Thank you in advance,
    Chris

Your temps seem about 30-40 deg to high...is the boat running wet?

      Will check it out. Thanks!
It doesn't seem too bad (to me) but I'm not sure. I tried to attach a short video but I'm getting an error. Will check again tomorrow.

Blueprinted mine (2 of them). World of difference. Without doing that, Raise the strut to roughly 1/8" above plane from sponson to sponson with a tad (just a tad) negative angle. Move batteries back for starters a little at a time. Can control the porpoise somewhat with CG. You might have to pull the strut and carve the slot to have an angle in it. Chainsaw file works great.

I'm thinking blueprinting is needed. Will explore that tomorrow. I pulled the strut and filed it earlier, so we'll see how it does next run. Appreciate the insight!

            Things to check for:

            - Alignment of the motor coupler and flex going into the stuffing tube, can rub and cause drag/heat
            - Check for any obstructions or kinked water cooling hoses
            - Open up the hole in the rudder for more water flow, run dedicated lines for esc and motor, or replace straight sections of cooling line with aluminum pipe for better cooling.

Do you have experience with using the inline coolers from Kintec? Picked one up for the hell of it while getting some tubing, just curious if they actually make a difference. If not, at least it looks cool

Ended up sick this week, so wasn't messing with the boat until today. Checked the tubes, no kinks. Started blueprints get today, marine epoxy drying now. No experience with the inline coolers, but will try drilling the rudder hole first, and maybe add a second pickup if needed. Also might reduce the timing further.

Are you talking about the two hole strut, just starting to work on my MG 29 v3 and the sponson look pretty straight.

You can use a slightly larger drill bit to enlarge the tapered intake hole in the side of the rudder. I also drilled out the brass barb at the top of the rudder that the cooling hose attaches to.

Thanks, I was talking about adjusting the strut height and camber or pitch, mine has two hex screws attaching it and cant get it to change pitch only height.
Can this be modified just like the v2 with one hex screw.

remove the top bolt and you'll see where the material needs to be removed to get the trim angle you want. The strut is made from aluminum, so it's easy to grind with a dremel or file. Once you oval out the upper portion of the slot, you can reinstall the top bolt and nut. FWIW, I ran my strut about 3mm up from even with the bottom of the sponsons, level, and my 3S batteries all the way back (rear) in the trays.

Looking into upgrading the flex shaft on MG 29v3 to a .187 installed without the Teflon liner. Not sure this is what I need and Hobby Shop was not much help in finding one. They gave me a stock Traxxas flex shaft/ no help
