New boat and in need of help

Hey! I just recently I purchased the TFL Genesis 900 from OSE, and it finally arrived today. Such a beautiful boat and it's only my second RC boat I've owned, so I'm excited to really step up from my cheaper RTR I have. As I've started to assemble things I have some questions.

    1) batteries. On the page here it says it needs 2 2s 5000mAh batteries to power it, yet the ESC only has one plug, and the instructions show only using one lipo. Do I use two at once, or one? And how? (I haven't ordered the batteries yet, are there any you recommend for this boat?)

    2) I noticed the hatch doesn't have any latches. Is it as simple as buying latches and drilling the hatch to install? Or do you normally just tape it down and do away with latches?

    3) flex shaft maintence. Apparently this is a two piece flex, where you have to take off the strut and pull the shaft through the front to grease. That seems like a very time consuming thing to do after every run, and if I needed a new cable I would have to find one with a square end. Can you convert this to a single piece flex assembly?

Pllease excuse my (possibly dumb) questions, as I emailed Steven first but it appears they're on vacation and won't be back until the 8th. I just don't want to wait that long!

Thanks a lot for the help, and I can't wait to get this beauty on the water!

there is a battery basics section in the beginning of the forum that shows you how to run two batteries in series or parallel. tape down your hatch with clear hockey tape, they sell it here.

      1) I think (I may be wrong) you can run it either 1 lipo OR 2 at a time either in series or parallel. Since you mentioned two 2s, I assumed your setup is meant for 4s. So that means 2s connected in series.

      2) Just tape it down. You for sure need to stock up on some tape.

      3) I clean & grease mine after I am done boating. Either it is only a single run at the lake or multiple runs, still I will clean & grease them after, when I am back home. About the single piece flex assembly, maybe others can answer that for you.

Thanks for the help guys, yes it is meant for 4s. Ordered my batteries and series harness a couple days ago. Going to upgrade to 3/16th flex soon after. Also going to buy lots of hockey tape. Should have her on the water by next weekend.

        Thanks again!
