    44 to 48 inch mono

I want to build a 44 to 48 inch mono.
What motor and speed controller do you recommend.

Where do I start with propellers

Several club members run big monos, several Herzog Hurricanes, an Aeromarine Outerlimits, etc.

Yes, there have been a number of 10S Mono builds, do a search in the build forum - which may take awhile.

I think assumptions were made too early. What do you want to do with the boat? Is it a "budget" build? Is this for speed or just fun at the lake? Do you have a hull already? If so, is it an available hull or is it custom? Do you want to keep in single or go twin?

Hmmm, I think it is a fair assumption he does not have the hull since he doesn't know the length. He wanted to see builds to do some research and get an idea of what is involved. Probably too early to ask too many detailed questions. While Tameless was being a bit sarcastic, you cannot build a 44"-48" mono without spending a lot more than you would on a 4S mono. 2.5 times the battery $, more $ for the HV ESC, the large heavy hull, 1/4" cable and collet, larger heavier hardware, you get the idea. I have built and raced a number of 10S boats, and I can say it is much cheaper to do today than it was 8 years ago! But IMO it is certainly worth building one - if you have the skill.

Depends on what he wants from the boat. One of my 10S boats runs 10S1P/6500, I came in third at the 2014 Worlds running against almost 30 gas boats. Another boat ran 10S2P/9000 packs, heavier but plenty fast the way I propped it. Anyone wanting a lot of run time (relatively that is ) should run 2P.
