Spektrum rx's going for a bath

Each of my esc's gets a corrosion X bath before use. This makes a huge difference in keeping equipment working.

After the bath, I let them drip dry and then clean the back with alcohol to prep the surface for Velcro.

Absolutely, Steve. And, I've been doing that for years with my seaplane receivers and ESCs, because they get wet a lot.

Is that good for the newer DSMR receivers also?

What is a better than Crorrosion X is a product called LIQUIGUARD. It will waterproof any electrical device. I have filled up a glass of water and placed a receiver in it overnight and it worked just fine the following day. It sprays on as a clear liquid, when dry leaves no film.

Looks pretty good, but yikes! not cheap. $30 + shipping for 8oz.

True, but what do a couple of receivers cost? Since so many boaters seem unable to waterproof their boats, that seems like cheap insurance to me.

Jay do you know anything about the "Reliakote" Spektrum is using? Will it react with either corrosion x or this liquiguard?

Nope. I am assuming it is a decent product, and none of my SR receivers are sprayed with CorrosionX. I used to spray all my receivers and ESCs with it, until I discovered that it loosened the adhesive Castle uses in their ESCs to hold the metallic "cooling plate" under the control board. When that happens the plate can rotate and cause a direct short - poof! Only happened once but that was enough. I now use CorrosionX in limited quantities. It is still a great produce IMO.

                        FYI: Jim

AndyKunz (Spectrum Development Team) cautioned me on a previous thread on those DSMR receivers ....he stated he did not recommend Corrosion X as it causes plastic to become brittle.

people including myself have been using Corrosion x for years without issue. When we first started using it, it was on servos. because none of them were waterproof. I still have servos that are plastic and still work fine.

I've been using this stuff for 10 years for various things. I don'tknow if it has the same problems Andy once described. Back in the FM days I used it constantly.

We primarily run in salt water here in San Diego, if it wasn't for CorrosionX, I honestly don't think we could do our hobby. Or it would be a whole lot more expensive at the least.

For my receivers, I just pop them out of their plastic cases, and spray the rx boards directly. I let it sit for a minute or two on a paper towel, and then put it back together.

I've had similar treated receivers completely under ocean water for over 30 minutes and still function afterwards. Just wash in fresh water, and respray with CorrosionX.

For my brushless motors if they get flooded, I simply wash them in fresh water under the sink, shake off excess water, and spray the insides with CorrosionX. Let it drain out, wipe off and reinstall.

Funny, I learned about CorrosionX after reading my Aquacraft Lucas Oil manual, where Grimracer states that if your motor gets wet, pickle the inside of the motor with either WD-40 or CorrosionX. If he happens in freshwater, I use WD-40 to save money, but anytime salt touches a motor, its always CorrosionX.
