    Deep V slow speed turning

    Hello,

Just finished completely rebuilding my fathers 32" deep v and was able to take it out for its first run in 30 years. Everything went well accept at slow speeds it turns to port nice an tight but to starboard is no where near as tight or smooth.

I am assuming that the boat is turning better to port because the prop spins that direction and to starboard is slower because it has to fight the centrifugal forces created by the prop? Or I am I missing something when trimming my boat? I do have my steering trim on the transmitter slightly to starboard to compensate for the prop at speed. The boat runs straight when on plane.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Prop walk makes the boat want to turn to the right - the rudder requires left trim to compensate. Problems turning may be due to inadequate servo/rudder throw. Another cause could be the neutral servo position may not be centered, this reduces rudder throw in one direction. Most boats don't turn as well at slow speeds due to inadequate water flow past the rudder.

Thank you for the advice. I adjusted the servo setup and my driving style, both seemed to really help a lot.

Turns cleanly both direction and I only have a slight amount of servo trim to keep things running straight.
