UL-1 Guts, want to transplant to a V-Hull... any suggestions?

I have a UL-1 Superior that's been sitting for a while. I was never happy with only turning left and hung it up. I'd like to do some transplant surgery and put it's guts and running gear into a V-hull.

Would anyone know specifics like size, maybe some models, etc?

I have seen the UL-1 setup run in a lightweight Titan 29 very successfully, but the Kv is on the high side for a sport boat that size. The Titan works because it has huge lift to reduce drag. A slightly smaller, light boat would probably work better for you.

      I recently transplanted the UL-1 motor into my son's Shockwave 26 v-hull.

      AQ2030KV on 4s
Upgraded .187 flex shaft, no teflon liner
Turnigy 120amp esc (want headroom to try aggressive props)

You could also do an Aquacraft catamaran hull and turn left and right.

The UL-1s 2030kv motor works great in a Revolt 30 or Lucas Oil.

Just be careful, because with the Lucas Oil for example, it turns an otherwise 45 mph boat a solid 50+ mph boat. Which is just about too much for that hull to handle a hard flip or crash.

My Lucas, which was clocked at 42 mph when stock with the plastic prop and 1800kv motor, went up to 52 mph with the 2030kv UL-1 motor and an Octura X642 prop. Not bad for a RTR boat running on 4S.

I suspect the Revolt 30 mono would be around 47-50 mph with a 2030kv motor and decent brass prop. Plus its much easier to repair and reinforce than the Lucas double tub hull design.

Want a fast mono? Get a TFL Pursuit, a SSS 4082 2000kv motor, OSC .187 flexshaft, Turnigy 180a ESC, Octura X642 prop. Do some basic hull reinforcements with carbon or additional fiberglass cloth, and you will have a solid 70mph mono for less than $450 all in.

Though I digress, you wanted to use the motor and ESC from your UL-1. How about taking off the turn fin? Have you tried running it without that fin?
