How often do you grease the flexshaft?

After every run, or once in awhile?

After each day of running, or if running a lot sometimes during the day. I re-grease after every run in saltwater.

At the end of each day I pull the shaft, clean it, spray with CorrosionX and store hanging vertically. I re-grease and put it back in just before heading out to the lake.
    Don't get me started

Our clubs pond is filled up with water from the harbour, so it is sometimes quite salty. I personally use grimracer speedgrease and just grease the flex in the morning and it is sweet for the day. If your using oil or something like that you might have to re-grease more often. I find its not the flex that looses the lube its the stubb shaft. Of course pull your shaft at the end of the day and give everything a good cleanup.

usually before the day of running starts I grease it up,
should be cleaned and regreased when your done too.
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

I service the drive as part of my post-run maintenance which is done of course, after every run.

...i guess the answer "every time too much water gets in through the drive line" would be wrong?

every time i put the drive shaft in the boat..
i take my shafts out of the boat after a day of racing. so i grease once a race. and for one boat a day consists of about 3 runs and maybe a couple test runs.
and then i pull it out, dry it off and oil it and store it till next time

Why does a flex shaft need to be stored vertically ?

Less likely to pick up grit, lint, etc. I usually store mine in my clean toolbox or in the boat hull itself for the same reason.

So a flex does'nt really need to be stored vertically so long as it stays clean
