flex shaft getting longer or getting shorter?

    Hello,

I have a very important Q. for my shelf. Does the flex shafts getting longer or getting shorter when in operation?
On both condition how many mm. is the difference?
    Thanks in advance for answers.

    It gets shorter when running.

As it was told to me many years ago.
Shrinkage is about 1/8" per foot of length of the flex shaft.

Reason you have to leave a gap of the same flex's diam between the strut and drivedog....i.e. about 3/16" for 3/16" flexshafts and 1/4" for 6,35mm shafts.
