    super hawaii mod or sell

I have come into a super clean and original super hawaii from a freind of mine. It is all stock and looks to be in working order (untested) but in really nice condition. He said he drove it a few times many years ago and then shelfed it. I know the boat would be to slow for me in stock form and I already gave my son which is 8 my twinstorm 800 to use since it wasn't fast enough. So heres the question do I mod it to make it faster (which would be a 8xl or 700 brushed motor direct drive) or leave it stock unmolested and sell it it someone for a collection or cruiser? (I'm leaning towards selling it since it's in such nice shape and I don't know if I could start cutting into it but I wanted some outside input)

I have a Cesa 1882 witch is pretty much the same, it was stock when I got it few weeks ago, a friend also had it on a shelf for 15 years or so and only ran it twice in the pool, I only changed the mecanic speed controler with a Graupner V80 as well as the original Nicad pack for a 4000mAh Nimh, for what I have tested up to know and what I have seen from others, this hull is not designed for much higher speed that it does stock, especially in turns, it's horrible!
But it is a nice looking boat and I'm not going to sell it, I might go for some stronger motor if some can fit with the gearbox or go for a 10 or 12XL with plenty of Nimh inside!

There are a few threads on trying to upgrade this hull for speed. The hull was designed as an entry level great looking boat. I think it is a mistake to try to go beyond the models design criteria and you will spend a lot of cash for a small improvement in speed...handling is another issue

First I want to say that this hull is one of my all time favorites. I like and have owned many of the ABC Hobbies hulls. The SH is upgradable to an extent. Its soft plastic hull limits it to a low or sub 30mph sport boat. The mods needed to make it siff enough for high power brushless systems would require butchering it pretty bad. The most serious issue is the hulls age. They are out of production for over 15 years now and the plastic may be getting brittle. So in short yes its worth a mild mod and will be a fun sport boat. If your looking for a speed demond buy a modern glass hull.
        Just my informed opinion.

          Try to sell it

It might not be worth as much as you think

I also had a SH for sale and did not get any bites on it

When you get to your lowest price you would take for it and still have it you will not feel as bad when you start to cut it up to make it faster
