    Thundercat 31. Good FE build???

Hi everyone, I am new to FE boats and I am looking at a thundercat 31 for $175. I want to do a brushless conversion eventually but I like that I can still play with it while I save up for the parts. I want to know if this hull is worth the build and what kind of speed can be expected if I go with a leopard 5692 or 5698 motor and an esc on 8s? Any recommendations would be great!!

4S will be more than enough...pick a motor in the 4074 200kv will be more than enough....I did one, ran pretty well into the low 50's but stability was an issue at anything over that....hull was thin and needed to be re-enforced as well.

Your motor ideas are WAY overkill!

Thank you Doby, that's what I was trying to find out. I didn't know the speed capabilities of the hull. Do you think it would be better to just save up and buy a nice hull and start from there? By nice I mean the cheetah or mean machine. Or if there's another route that would be good for a 60-70 mph cat that won't kill my bank account lol.
        Thanks, Drake

If those are the speeds you are looking for, than the Thundercat isn't the hull you want. A Cheetah hull would be the way to go (the mean machine is a bit small in my opinion)

          Here is mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WHYeVcmuLw

I run a 4S Cheetah and in race trim is a good stable mid 50s hull. Others have pushed it way passed that on 6S.

Do you currently have any LiPos that you are trying to build a setup around?

            Good looking boat!
I do not have anything so I'm starting from the ground up. I like the cheetah hull and would like to run 6s and make the power. I may try to find someone selling a complete cheetah so I don't have to rig one out lol.
