First rigger build, have a couple questions

Building a couple etti demon riggers. I'm at the point where I need to mount the sponsons. It's important to me to get it right the first time. There's a template that comes with the hull to mark the holes on the sponsons but not for the hull. So I have no idea what angle and how far below the hull the sponsons need to be.

Also, what's the best method for mounting the boom tubes in the sponsons without going all the way through? (going through does not look good to me)

First rigger build, have a couple questions

I've run several demons over the years and have found 4 degree AOA works best. I mounted the boom tubes all the way through the sponsons, unfortunately I don't have the boats anymore so I can't help you position of the boom tubes in the hull.

Have a look at the link below to a build thread Dee from Etti did, should help you out.

There's nothing wrong going through the sponsons..you will have a better bond and support for the booms....just make a good seal with epoxy glue like in the pictures for a good seal.Gill

        Thx.

I really don't want to go all the way through. I was thinking shoot some epoxy in the aluminum tube and pick up the tube for a second and let it flow out a little. Then when it dries, drill a hole in the end of each sponson and pour some two part foam in there. Scared it may deform them tho.

Be careful with the foam, the rigger is on the heavy side as it is, if you add it into the sponsons it will slow down. I did it on one set of sponsons and had to buy a new one...
You should really drill through, as you want to be able to do adjustments to the boom length without changing booms (btw: the Etti collars can be tightened a couple of times and you lose the thread).
The way to get the most out os the Demon is to tweak it a bit: move the booms forward to allow them to be adjustable and add a 3mm balsa strip and carbon ridepad to the sponsons to lift a bit more.
