1st question to be answered is...how much $$ do you plan on spending?

I do not see any thoughts on speed or budget. These two directly affect each other in big boats.

Well, we have part of the equation...but still rather vague.

Your budget is a 'bit' low for that hull. It is a big slightly heavy hull, so I would suggest twin electric, the budget you have would cover the motors-maybe. The budget I set for my MHZ Silverhook Mono was $2500.00-twin electric/twin speed controls/ 8 6s/6000mah batteries/drive hardware/rudder/+ misc. parts. You 'could' run with a single motor, but it would have to be a big Lehner powerhouse, which the budget doesn't cover either. just my 2 cents.........

You could do it with one Castle 2028 or the Largest leopard. 10s2p 8-10k...Gets him 55-60 easy. We have 2 in our club.
$436 dollars. Not going to cut it. Batteries will cost more.

So lets use Howards conversion factor as a baseline:

Motor:http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...=leo-56110...I have this same motor in a big mono hull and its a beast
                Price approx. 200 USD

                ESC: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ef-HBC0240L-CW
                Price approx. 240 USD

Batteries:: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Lipo_Pack.html I use these in my 10S2P setups and they have held up well for a few seasons now.
                Price approx. 50 USD/ea = Approx 200USD total

So we are at about $650.00 USD and you still need a decent rudder/strut/shaft/prop/motor mount/steering servo/battery charger and other miscellaneous things, so add another 300ish on top of 650 you already spent.

So all in all, figure about 1000 USD (you can convert that to pounds) to do this boat on the relative "cheap".

Reality is a real kick in the balls, isn't it!

Oh, and one more thing, figure about 4 minutes run time and then you will be recharging!

Those motor are like pitting a Honda Civic motor in a Semi Truck.

I would put twin 2230 motor in that big boat if it was me or if you can not afford use twin http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ess_Motor.html

NO! If that is your thought process move on to a smaller project. Maybe put the boat up for sale! I have one and it's a big boat. The Motors randy outlined are the cheapest your going to get for that boat. One might push it to 55mph. (Maybe) Interested in selling it?

                            Big boats also=big motors/esc's/batteries.

This is NOT a good project to lose your FE virginity on.

Start small and work your way up.
