Well I made some serious changes (well I say serious so it sounds more important haha) to it the past couple days.

Supported the steering rod inside the through hull fitting. Cut the slack out because it'll bend some

Changed the rudder pivot pin to one .001 bigger to take all the slack out.

Lowered battery trays to be able to get the batteries out without wanting to throw the boat in the lake. Also lowered cg

Fixed two unknown water leaks. Guess that's why the boat had water in it sunday. So much for the theory that if you tape the boat up and make it watertight that no water will get in. Ha. Not sure how but I had two pin holes in cooling lines. Good thing everything is waterproof.....because it is a boat ya know. Lol

    Changed foam to black

Moved the voltage gauge connector to the other side for easier access

    Shimmed the strut over
    .015 so it'll go straighter

I also made a plate that bolts in my rudder bracket (in the place of the rudder temporarily) in an effort to set the rudder straight and then shim the strut till the boat goes straight with no rudder trim. Should help with drag and help with the boat flipping from making an arc at 90+

Here's the black foam. Look better than green I think. Plus it's solid so even more floatation

Travis, how is that Alien 300 performing for you?

I liked my 250. It was pretty smooth for the dollar I thought. Got it wet too many times and finally died. I took another 250 to about 70k and it left it's entrails all over the inside of my boat. It didn't just burn. Think agressive expiration. Chunks of fet here and there kind of thing. haha We've all been there.

My 6s 300 never seemed to spool up properly. Always seemed to be turning a lower RPM than it should. Never really figured that one out.

Still would like to find something HV that was waterproof, worked, and didn't require a home refi. I haven't tried any of HV Aliens. I don't like having to make shift waterproof them.

Your 8s300 looks more like the layout they use on the big controllers. Wondered how it was holding up.

I haven't even run it yet. Looks good though. Still running the mamba xl2. I did take the shrink off and lightly epoxy coated it.

Btw, have you tried a sf300 lite? I've had good luck with them. Cut the shrink off, lightly coat the areas they missed (it's coated but a halfass job) with 5 minute permatex epoxy and your good. It's pretty smooth once in the water. On the bench its now very smooth. Of course it's not a castle or a mgm but it's not near as bad as am etti.

I did try the 300lite on loan in a heavy 1/8scale. Need to get that back to the guy now that I think about it. Still in my box. That seemed to work fine once programmed properly. I had a SF120 and a SF240pro. The 6s versions. Hated em. One burned on the bench at the nats. Never got to run that one. The other never put out the RPM it should have. Cussed them a lot. I finally gave up on it in favor of a Seaking180. Easy and reliable.

Terry on the SF you program them at 100% and then pump them all the way up on the trim. On a futaba that would be 120%. Worked for all the guys in our club. But what do I know.

kinda what I had to do to the xl2, but am pushing that to linits right now in q mono..it seems to not be cooling the board though the fins and case and caps are all right around 100 the logger shows 150 to 160 on temps..tried to take apart and use more heat transfer paste..will test sunday see if it helps..but have been pulling over 5900 watts and spiking amps in the 265 range

Mine is the same way. I have plenty of Artic silver paste on mine. I have cooling on top and bottom also. My water flow is great and my motor don't break a sweat pushing this little boat.

On a side note, does anyone's logger read percentage for throttle position? Mine reads in ms and I don't like that. Any way to change it?

I had a bad run with this thing the last couple times I ran it. Drove like poo. Went slower. Esc cogged. Wasn't stable. Flipping. You name it, enough to make me want to throw it in the lake and walk away. So I took a couple weekends off from it and messed with the shocker. Because I crashed it yesterday I decided to see if I could break the Rivercat. I mean why not, I'm already having some bad luck anyway, might as well add to it.

I decided I'm gonna run it on 2s at first to get an idea of how it was running. Started around 42mph and very rough and bouncy. Was not stable at all. Started moving the strut all around. Got it close. Then I moved the rudder angle. Got even better. Ran it down to cutoff and ran good. No issues. Switched to 3s. Little more tweaking and she was running smooth. Got it back up to 79ish on run down batteries. Threw 4s in it. Nervous of course. Made one pass and it was as smooth as could be. Did not think it was going to be my fastest pass ever with this boat!

Fantastic man. Way to keep at it!

So whats the verdict on the LH servo/rudder mounting? Better?

Thanks dude. The rudder didn't really help or hurt, at least I think. I am running a lot more pitch on the prop than I usually do do the prop walk is much more pronounced.

I glad I went ran it. I was depressed after the shocker crash. Almost felt like throwing the towel in. This made me feel better. It ran better than the goal I originally set. Now that I have it running well I'm leaving it alone for now. I do have one more step up on prop I could go but I'm not sure I want to. I'm extremely happy with it as is. I just wanted it to do 95 max. If I ever get to go to the time trials I can prop way down and still run 90 and it drive waaay better. I think with the smallest pitch prop it goes around 91-92.

That is really excellent Travis. I am glad your faith was renewed. I am nervous every time I pull that trigger(even if I have built it to crash). And speaking of pulling the trigger, my lake finally has enough water in it to run!!!!

I'm not familiar with the record your thinking of hitting on but if you can get it while propped down that would be great. Go get it and then prop up.

Nice work Travis! Isn't it funny that with many things, sometimes when we aren't really trying or don't really care, we get the outcome we wanted!?!?!?

While I've never built a boat to your standard and $$$, I have crashed a few and it always stinks.
It is an awesome day though after running 2-3 of my boats and everything makes it back home safely!
