    Converting to FE

I have a PT Super Sport that I am planning to convert to FE. The current cowl is cut for cooling and exhaust and I am hoping to reuse this cowl without repainting. Any ideas on a good way to seal/fill the cutouts? I don't have a pic on this computer, but I'll try to post one later.

    Thanks

You could just use plywood obviously, or you could take that plywood or maybe even cardboard, and tightly wrap it in wax paper, and then add a few layers of epoxy and fiberglass cloth to close any holes. This would probably provide a little more cleaner, "factory" look to it. But then again, you dont necessarily have to seal off water with the cowling, especially considering most nitro boats dont have this concept in mind during the design and fabrication, and thus the hatches/cowlings are usually far from ideal in terms of the flush/flat orientation required for tape sealing.

So you could in turn build a "sub hatch" cover that sits underneath the actual cowling, that is flat, and most likely rectangular, and sits flush inside a lip so that its very easy to tape, and its also hidden too so it provides an aesthetic bonus also.

I have Phils 1/8 scale T5 and I converted it to electric, I actually had a bit of trouble at first with this whole process (as its my first boat and im not the best craftsman.....yet) but after a few different attempts and teardowns, I finally produced a setup that im very happy with now :)
