I too would be interested in seeing what else is available in these sizes. I have quite a few 2200kv 40mm motor options to try. I've always wanted a rigger

Curious as to what handling characteristic has you down on the JAE?Mike Chirillo

P rigger recommendations
Hey Chilli I find the Eagle and Taipan boats are smother in the corners and handle choppy water better. This is just personal preference, i would prefer a different boat for a P rigger, however if I can't find one I'll end up building a JAE

It's all good Steven. I wish we had more offerings for full P Power. I raced a full P JAE but it was a custom built boat with widened tub and sponsons. Be sure to post some pics when you start your build.Mike Chirillo

Hi, I'm going to take the plans with the intention of building one for me. Thank you very much!

What does a 40mm motor have over a 36mm motor in a P rigger? Brian B just made some cherry runs with a tp 3650- 3000kv motor in SAW trim on 4s. I'm not suggesting to run a 3000kv motor for ovals however, I'm suggesting why not use a motor with higher efficiency than a 40mm can as 36mm motors (not all but many) are like the Neu 1415 1y, to 3650-5D, and Scorpion 3445-2200kv. The two latter are approx. 84mm long and dissipate heat well.
After all riggers are lighter than sport hydros and smaller. I'm trying to decide what power to use in my ML RSX 310 rigger. I like the Scorpion.Nortavlag Bulc

That said, my JAE rigger runs a 1415/1Y and is all I can handle: 12-second laps and upper 70s on the 1/6th mile oval. Would a 40mm can be better? Don't know, but right now I have excellent reliability and nothing gets hot. Plus, it fits better than the 40mm cans. That is probably the real deciding factor, the fitment of the motor in those tiny rigger tubs.

Another one to take alook at is the RSX310 from ML boats. Mike has really done a beautiful job on the design and the kit. I've got in the process of building and it's really nice. He even did a buildthread on here and International Waters.

My thinking was since a Neu 1415-1y can push a JAE to 70mph laps, a scorpion 36mm x 84mm 2200kv 1y would handle the extra weight.
I know 40mm motors have more torque but isn't torque proportional to current? More torque means more MAH to carry.Nortavlag Bulc

I agree with jay the fitment being the biggest issue and deciding factor on these riggers since space is so limited.
Confirmed with Brian on the 3640 motor and 3650 he confirmed for his purposes he uses the 3650 for SAW but said the 3640 is plenty for heat racing.
Other brands of motors of course may not be created equal.OSE GIFTING ELF

I have an RSX 310 still in the box. At least I think it's in there. I haven't opened it yet. Not sure about space in there.
My JAE is super tight but it's also not stock. Mine is no taller than a Raptor which is super tight too.Noisy personComment
