The problem is the shaft angle. it is setup for a displacement hull not planing and other issues already pointed out. Your battery solution will not work. A nice boat by the way.

i ill try to get a few props and a flex drive in the next few weeks.

in the meen time i have tested in the bath how deep the transom sits with the weight of both the 1800 c cell pack and the 2300 AA cell pack and there is about a 1 cm diffrence . when i run the motor on the 2300 cells it revs a lot higher and with the lower weight the prop is further out of the watter so the motor is not getting too hot just the batts.

i think i will hook up both batt packs and play about with the c o g and see wot happens till i get some cash
thanks for the advice keep it coming

The sponson bottoms are WAY too steep. They won't make the required lift to get the hull out of the water.

How far is the center of gravity from the rear of the hull with batteries in it?

Boy, this lad will never get it right with all the answers. Go back to your original drive setup and review the responses

is 3 pounds heavy for this size of boat (the weight might not be that acurate as im sing cheep fishing scales to weigh it)

when you say the sponsons are to steep do you mean the rake angle

im not trying to answer my own questions just trying to get it working just now till i can afford to impliment the advice you have kindley given me. sorry for any offence

my only experiance in building boats is with airboats witch have worked out well
getting around 40 mph not bad for a flat bottom

as i am from scotland can i still order from the ose website and will it be expencive
for p&p. my local model shops are c$%p
                      thanks big d

I think you can get it going if you use a flex cable drive to get the prop shaft parallel with the bottom of the hull and the center of gravity 7.5 inches from the rear. (35%) If not, then you will need a different motor.

Bigd, As a fellow Scot and as you know we are canny with our cash, it will probably be expensive as you will also have to pay duty and handling costs. There must be some online European hobby shops that can assist you. A typical cost to ship to Canada from the US is arround $20 via p&p plus duty for small items, Europe will be more. Do not use UPS or any of the major carriers as they will nail you a minimum of $25 for handling charges. Only use the postal sevice and insure if the item is over $100. my 2p.
PS if you are going to purchase an item from a US company, use only OSE, as Steven will see you right. Send him an email and he will advise you of your shipping costs for the items you wish
