Motor runs when I turn off TX

I have a problem when I turn off my transmitter both motors run in my Zonda. I am using a airtronic MX-V transmitter. Everything works except when the receiver stop receiving a signal from the TX. I am afraid that for some reason I am out of range or something happen with the TX I have a run away boat at full throttle. I have been trying for the longest to figure what setting might be wrong for this to happen. HELP!

I run fail safe receivers on all of my boats to stop this from happening.....

Yup, you need a receiver with a failsafe to prevent this from happening. Can you confirm what type of ESC's you are using?

Just in case you are using Seaking/ Turnigy, depending on the receiver, even one with a failsafe, they will go to 100% throttle if you do a throttle calibration, run the boat immediately afterwards and lose TX connection. To fix the issue, you must turn off and then turn on the ESC after throttle calibration.

If there is a throttle trim on your tx try adjusting it. don

I am running two Seaking esc. I will try a throttle calibration and see if that will correct the problem. I will try tomorrow and let you know if that solve the problem. What esc have fail safe?

The Seaking ESC's you have have a fail safe, but only when they lose connection with the receiver, they will go to neutral throttle. It won't help you if the receiver is the problem.

If you are using Airtronics TX, I'm assuming you are using their receivers. As far as I know, all their receivers have fail-safe's, most of them are programmable per channel.

So I would check first the Throttle Calibration:

              1. Connect batteries
              2. Turn on TX
              3. Hold throttle full 100%
              4. Turn on both ESCs, wait for beeps.
              5. Release throttle, wait for long beep, then both ESCs should arm.
              6. Carefully, turn off TX, motors may go full throttle.
              7. To fix the issue, after setting throttle calibration, turn off both ESCs, then turn them back on.
              8. Test again buy turning off TX, this time the throttle should stay at zero.

If that doesn't fix the issue, than I think you may have accidentally set your fail safes on your receiver to 100% throttle. Most Airtronics receivers have programmable fail safes for each channel, check your instruction manual or download one from Airtronic's site and double check your fail safe settings for your specific receiver.

I have program the throttle calibration, I have also played with the throttle trim adjustment. What I have notice is the red led on the ESC goes from red to green when I turn the TX off and it is running at wide open throttle.

Did you turn off the ESCs, turn them back on, and then turned off the TX again?

Did it still go 100% throttle even after turning off/on your ESCs?

I am going to try this, I have a pair of SK 120's that like to do this action now and again.
                    Thanks, Shawn

Yup, I can recreate it 100% of the time when I use my basic Tactic Receivers with my 180a SK, even though they have a failsafe, if you do a throttle calibration and run immediately afterwards without turning off/on your ESC, they will go 100% throttle if they lose TX connection. Simple fix is to make sure to always turn your ESC off, and then on again after a throttle calibration.

However, another issue could be the failsafe program on the receiver. Many receivers allow you to set the failsafe on channel 2, the throttle channel. Make sure that if your receiver has a programmable failsafe, that it is also set to neutral.

I sent a email to airtronic about the fail safe not working. Waiting for them to respond maybe a bad receiver.

I put a Cheetah into a shoreline tree because I messed up doing this... its fixed now though.

Did you remove the red wire (to disable one of the becs) from one of the esc rx wires?

Yes I did remove the red wire from one of the ESC. I have even tried to completely removed the red wire from the receiver and ran with a separate battery still the same effect. I did get a call from Airtronic today but the guy I needed to talk was off today. Hopefully he will give me a call tomorrow.
