    Mono Strut Angle

Question, hope this makes sense. Have a mono, with and adjustable strut. The way it came it had the strut adjusted way down, in respect to the bottom of the hull when you align with the bottom of the hull. Why I'm asking is when the hull is floating the way the boat levels in the water is different, meaning the rear sinks much lower which leads me to believe the way it came was correct, which is not level with the bottom of the hull for a neutral setting.

So the question is how do you adjust it correctly besides just running it of course. Do you level it flat with the bottom of the hull or is it truly about how the boat levels in the water?

    Thanks!

I run mine above the bottom of the hull. How high above will depend on prop size and length of the strut.

So if you want to achieve a neutral strut, how do you set it? It seems awkward to align the strut to the bottom of the hull when the hull does not float level in the water? Or does that level when actually running and that actually is the neutral setting?

I set it to be parallel with the keel(bottom of hull). I usually use a ruler on bottom and view from side.

I looked again and that appears to be the case. When the boat sits in the water that angle I taped off to set the strut level to that angle. Now that I put boat flat on ruler, it's very close. So it appears to still be correct. Guess it's a different way to confirm the same thing. Thank you!

All that matters is its angle when on 'plane'. Or in most of our cases, the angle of flight. Lol

Right. And that is what was throwing me off as the hull does not appear to sit level which made me think the strut is not level. When I recieved the boat, the strut was pointed up. I thought due to how it leveled in the water it was neutral. Now that I look at it again it's was not and leveling it with ruler like you stated yielded the same results when I leveled it to the water line.

My answer would be to run it and see what it wants. Your balance may way it to be positive like it is. Or not. I start off level (set boat on table and level the strut to the table) and go from there. If it runs nose up give some negative. Nose down give some positive.

The way this boat is sitting in the water the nose is up and the prop is pointed down. I never care about this situation, only the running attitude and stability
