    Winterizing your RC boats

    Hi everyone,

It was a beautiful weekend up here in WI and thankfully I had time to run my boats one final time for the year. As the thread title implies, how do you guys winterize your RC boats? Seeing as (mine at least) will be sitting on a shelf for the next six months, proper storage is essential for trouble-free boating come springtime. I'll go over what I typically do, and was wondering if anyone does this stuff differently.

Transmitter - take the batteries out

Lipos - Storage charge (50%), stored in a charging sack

Hull - cleaned up with soap and water, dried, shined up with Meguiars Quick Detailer spray

Flexshaft - removed from stuffing tube, wipe it dry, oiled with WD40 on a rag, stored in the boat.

Cooling system - use compressed air to blow the water out, WD40 into the motor cooling jacket, ESC, and rudder, and a shot of compressed air from both ends to distribute the oil

    Motor - oil the bearings

Rudder and linkage - lubricate the moving parts

Is there anything else that you guys do when putting your boats away for the year?

Looks like a pretty good list to me. The only additional thing that I do is blow the entire cooling system out with fresh, clean water prior to blowing it dry. I also clean out the aluminum fittings as I've been finding a lot of white colored corrosion in them lately.

You didn't clearcoat your hulls with 2k clear paint? 2k clear paint the solution to prevent folors fading unless you like the glossy look
