You know I am not exactly sure how it works technically. I am certain it's not laser, but maybe a light beam? mirrors? They use the same system for SAW at/during the same event. The timing system is owned and maintained by our IMPBA org. Next time I see Mr. Keeley, I am going to ask.

EDIT: I found some information on IW:

They are using Allen Bradly Photoelectric sensors...

My surprise was more to the fact that Petes' 4s (P) mono was faster than his 6s (Q) Sports Hydro.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

        Peter,

At Legg Lake we use balloons for buoys which allows for more commitment from the driver to put it in lane 1. Hydro set-ups are likely to be very similar to yours as most guys only run 1P, however most mono's and some sport hydro's are likely running 2P. All my mono's from N2 to T run 2P. I believe you guys are limited to 1P.

Congrats on the records and keep working at them.

          Okay, that makes sense.

A 1/6 mile lap is 880'. Your course works out to about 965' laps. So the times make sense.

            Thanks Tyler
Balloons would be great, but I suspect that some of our guys would start a new game, see how many balloons you can pop in a lap! We went with substantial bouys as the previous ones got a hammering from random people using the pond, and as we have a permanent course set up we wanted something that would last.
Our classes only allow for 1p, but for open classes 2p is allowed. The different in times between the P offshore and open electric mono with the same boat and prop is due I guess to 2p delivering more power. Both runs were on pretty much glassy water. The Pursuit is now drydocked (stripped) for blueprinting the hull and a paint up for next year.
Funny, because when I went to the stand for the 30 sec run, I made a comment to the timekeepers about the light breeze had dropped off and water might be a bit sticky! I'm looking forward to the next go at it next year.
