    Cajun rescue boat

I've looked at most of the pics of some great rescue boats, more work than I want to do ,what about the new Cajun aid boat with PVC forks attached? 230$, the next EZ idea was a rope and foam tied on behind anouther boat and circle around the dead boat till it grabs something ,this air boat looks EZ what do you think?

I have the Cajun and it is not great in windy choppy conditions, I personally would not recommend it for a rescue boat. I use the Traxxas Villian IV it can run very slowly, tight turn radius, reverse, I have pool noodles with 1/4' dowels fro stiffening and the small bungee cords to secure on top and on the bottom, having the noodles extend about 12-16" from the bow, it works great.

I tried that with a little boat I bought at harbor freight that really turned well, but I taped on PVC just like you then I wouldn't go straight for 3' ,the tape going around the hull really messed up the way the boat drove ,I'll see what a used one cost ,I have a Spartan I wouldn't mind taping pipe to but it doesn't turn at slow speeds as it is ,thanks for the tip

I have the Cajun for a rescue boat and it works Great! It did not at first. Here is what I did, took off the tower seats, added V shape PVC with pool noodle, Took some airplane aileron stock and made some rudders, it need them as stated above to steer a LOT better sort of a pain on windy day but with the 2 rudders works like a charm have used it on at least 12-15 rescue already and I was going to switch to something else but this WORKS now and is cheep it is a keeper just make sure you use a Good 3S 4-5K lipo.

I just use 2 3mm bolt each side and swing the rudders up when transporting and swing them down when I get to the lake and ready to go

I grabbed the little traxxas on eBay for 40$ so I'll try it with some PVC ,why the pool noodle? Does it grab the boat better than just PVC ?

I just used the pool noodles for weight considerations hopefully the boat you are rescuing is only disabled and not submerged so you only need to guide it to shore. The traxxas blast if that is what you bought is a pretty small boat and to add the weight of PVC pipe rather then the weight of just foam stiffened with a 1/4" wooden dowel might make a big difference, I have the blast also and the turn radius is not a good as the Villian which you can pick up on ebay or the traxxas forum swap section too, usually

I just built a rig to use my Cajun as a rescue as well. Haven't had to rescue anything yet but did a test run seems to work well. In the pic I was still building it. I ended up using bigger diameter noodles for the sponsons. The airboat is attached with bungee cords and the sponsons are removable for easy storage

i found out that "grabing the boat" seems like a good idea but only works when the boat is pretty close
try "grabbing" when the boat is further away and there's some wind.......you'll probably give up ( i did )

now i have a slow boat that tows a small floating piece of foam ,i circle around the boat and pull it in , works every time
